What is PTSD?

Post Traumatic Stress Disorder is an anxiety disorder that can occur following the experiencing or witnessing of a traumatic event. It affects men and women, of all ages and from all walks of life. Those in the military who have experienced service in war zones are particularly vulnerable. Symptoms can involve reliving the trauma in some way, isolation or avoidance of reminders of the trauma and/or feelings of constant anxiety or irritation. In addition to these symptoms we now know that there are clear biological changes associated with PTSD.
